How to keep your Dog’s Ears Clean and Free from Infection »

Basic Tips for Grooming All Kinds of Dogs

Grooming is essential to the happiness of your dog. Many people assume that if the dog gets a bath and is brushed every now and then all the grooming requirements have been met. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Grooming beyond a bath is not just for show dogs, it’s for your dog too. A dog’s coat, teeth, nails, and ears all need to be cared for to keep your dog happy but more importantly healthy.
Perhaps, the most overlooked part of grooming is teeth and ears. Everyone knows that dogs have bad breath, but why is that? Dogs have bad breath, in many cases, because the owner has not taken the time to brush the teeth of their dog. Although this task sounds difficult, it is surprisingly easy and most dogs do not mind since the toothpaste for dogs is flavored like a treat. Ear cleaning is important for a canine. A cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol is the perfect tool for this task. Gently rub the cotton ball inside your dog’s ear removing dirt and wax as you go. Once your dog realizes what you are doing, he will sit and enjoy the treatment. Failure to care for these two areas can cause serious health problems for your furry friend.
